Masseuse’s License Revoked
The county board of supervisors this week upheld the revocation of Song Sun Piniol’s massage technician’s license.
Hearing officer Steven A. Wawra recommended that Piniol’s license be revoked, that her appeal be denied and the revocation of her license stand.
The clerk of the county board of supervisors is responsible for licensing certain types of businesses operating in the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County. This process includes the licensing of massage clinics and massage technicians pursuant to County Code sections 41.1901 et seq. and 41.2001 et seq.
Upon recommendation by the sheriff’s department and certain other county departments, pursuant to the grounds set forth in the County Code, clerk of the board Laura Welch took action to: revoke the massage technician license of Song Sun Piniol; deny the application for renewal of Paul Sayles’ massage clinic license for Tai Pai Massage, deny the application for renewal of the massage technician license for Kyung Hee Park; revoke the massage technician license for Mia Kim Claussen; and revoke Kisuk Smith’s massage clinic license for Valley Massage Clinic. All licensees took timely action to appeal the adverse actions taken by the clerk of the board.
Their appeals were heard by Wawra, who recommended that Piniol’s license be revoked and that Tai Pai’s reapplication be denied.
Wawra, however, concluded that Park and Claussen were rubbing people the right way and that Valley Massage Clinic provided satisfactory service to its customers. Wawra recommended that Kyung Hee Park’s appeal be granted and the denial of her application for renewal of a massage technician license be reversed; that the revocation of Mia Kim Claussen’s massage technician license be reversed; and that the revocation of the massage clinic license for Valley Massage Clinic be reversed.
